Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.

The Importance of Biblical Giving
Biblical giving is a foundational principle that reflects God’s love and generosity towards us. It is an act of worship, obedience, and partnership in advancing God’s Kingdom. As Christ’s Gospel Church, with a vision to reach 2 million unreached souls in Sri Lanka, we are called to be faithful stewards of the resources God has entrusted to us. By sowing seeds, we actively participate in fulfilling the Great Commission and bringing the message of salvation to those who have yet to hear it.
1. Acknowledging God as the Source of All Blessings
The Bible reminds us that everything we have comes from God. Giving back to Him demonstrates gratitude and trust.
“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights.” (James 1:17)
“Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the first fruits of all your produce.” (Proverbs 3:9)
2. Supporting God’s Mission on Earth
Through our giving, we enable the Church to carry out its mission of spreading the Gospel and meeting the needs of others.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” (Matthew 28:19)
“How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching?” (Romans 10:14)
3. A Reflection of Our Faith and Trust in God
Giving is an act of faith, showing that we trust God to provide for our needs even as we give sacrificially.
“But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” (Matthew 6:33)
“And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19)
4. Blessings for the Giver
The Bible assures us that God blesses those who give generously.
“Give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you.” (Luke 6:38)
“Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.” (2 Corinthians 9:6)
Join the Vision of Christ's Gospel Church
Rev. Prophet W.A.D. Kingsley’s vision for Christ's Gospel Church is to reach 2 million unreached souls and baptize them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. This God-given mission requires all of us to sow seeds—our time, resources, and prayers—into this Kingdom work.
“It is more blessed to give than to receive.” (Acts 20:35)
By giving, you play a vital role in bringing the light of Christ to Sri Lanka, transforming lives, and building God’s eternal Kingdom.
The Importance of Giving
1. Fulfilling the Biblical Principle of Tithing
The concept of giving a portion of one’s income to support the church comes from the Old Testament practice of tithing. In Malachi 3:10, God instructs the Israelites to bring a tenth of their produce to the temple as an offering:
“Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.”
Tithing serves as a model for supporting the church, ensuring that there are resources for ministry, worship, and care for the needy.
2. Supporting Church Leaders
The Bible teaches that those who dedicate their lives to ministry should be supported by the church community. 1 Timothy 5:17-18 emphasizes the responsibility of the congregation to provide for their leaders:
"The elders who direct the affairs of the church well are worthy of double honor, especially those whose work is preaching and teaching. For Scripture says, 'Do not muzzle an ox while it is treading out the grain,' and 'The worker deserves his wages.'"
Donations are crucial to compensating pastors, teachers, and other staff members who work tirelessly to shepherd the church and spread God’s word.
3. Caring for the Needy
One of the church’s primary responsibilities is to care for the poor, widows, orphans, and those in distress. Donations enable the church to carry out this mission, reflecting the biblical call to love and serve others. In Acts 2:44-45, the early church demonstrated this spirit of generosity:
"All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need."
The church relies on donations to fund outreach programs, provide food and shelter, and offer financial aid to those facing difficult times.
4. Spreading the Gospel and Missionary Work
Jesus commanded His followers to spread the gospel to all nations (Matthew 28:19-20). Donations are essential in supporting missionary work, both locally and globally. This includes funding for missionaries, Bibles, and evangelism programs. Romans 10:15 highlights the importance of sending missionaries:
"And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: 'How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!'"
The church’s ability to send out missionaries and support evangelism efforts depends on the generosity of its members.
5. Building and Maintaining Church Facilities
The Bible also highlights the importance of providing for the house of God. Donations help maintain church buildings and create spaces where believers can gather to worship, learn, and serve. In Exodus 35:4-5, God commanded the Israelites to bring offerings for the construction of the tabernacle:
“From what you have, take an offering for the Lord. Everyone who is willing is to bring to the Lord an offering of gold, silver, and bronze."
Just as the Israelites provided for the tabernacle, today’s church members are called to give toward the upkeep and expansion of church facilities, ensuring that there is a place for worship and community gatherings.
6. Fostering a Spirit of Generosity
Donations are not just about meeting material needs; they also cultivate a spirit of generosity and obedience to God. 2 Corinthians 9:6-7 beautifully expresses the attitude that Christians should have when giving:
"Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver."
The act of giving fosters spiritual growth and helps believers experience the joy and blessings of generosity.
7. Demonstrating Faith in God’s Provision
Giving to the church requires faith in God’s provision. The Bible encourages believers to trust that when they give, God will provide for their needs. In Luke 6:38, Jesus assures His followers that their generosity will be rewarded:
"Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you."
This promise of blessing motivates believers to give with confidence, knowing that God will supply all their needs.
8. Ensuring the Church’s Longevity
Donations provide financial stability for the church, allowing it to continue its work for future generations. Proverbs 3:9-10 reminds believers of the benefits of honoring God with their wealth:
"Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine."
By giving faithfully, church members help ensure that the church can grow and continue to minister for years to come.
